I'm Proud of Myself!

To mark 1 whole year in my job, I wanted to look back to see how far I'd come & when I realised all that I've achieved, i was pretty chuffed! I got the idea for this post when I read Jenny's post from @jennymarston_xo which you can read here, I highly recommend it & it actually fit in with my milestone this week, so thanks Jenny!

I started my job August 8th 2016 & I can still remember how I felt. It was like starting school again, I felt sick with nerves, I was worried I'd be judged & I was knackered - I had to get up before 8am for a change! But at the same time, I was excited. I was getting back into work, I was going to be earning, making friends, doing a job in an industry I'd always wanted to work in which is travel & to this day, I still love my job.

Before starting my job, I had been on the sick for 4 years. four years of claiming benefits, being looked down on, constant doctors & hospital appointments, being called a scrounger & having to visit the dreaded job centre. Yes, you get long lies everyday but believe me, it's hard to live on £80 a week. I started to feel better in myself so I began to apply for local part time jobs but with no luck. I even went for an interview 3 different times at the same place within one month & still got nowhere. I applied for over 100 jobs in 3 months. then one day, out of the blue, I got a call for an interview for a job I would kill for. The job I'm in just now. When I got offered the job, I cried down the phone with happiness.

It's not just the job that I'm proud of. Since starting my job, I have come off my anti-depressants, I have cut down on painkillers (though I still take at least 1 a day), I'm still skint but I'm happier, because I'm not relying on benefits for paying my rent or council tax, I do that on my own! I have also started making new friends at work, I've travelled somewhere without my rock of a boyfriend or holding my mums hand & I've visited somewhere I would never have been able to afford or even think about going & I've even lost some weight. I've also won some cracking prizes, including a trip to ladies day at the racecourse which is 12th August (tomorrow eeek!) so fingers crossed for some more good luck! its just been the best year ever, it'll be hard to top that's for sure!

This is when I won my holiday at our works Christmas party. Nick of that cheeser!
